OlgaAmyOlga Schifani & Amy S. Duggan, are vegan organic farmers, educators, and activists. They started the Center for Vegan Organic Education, a subscription farm on Vashon Island, Washington in 1998 and have created the Center for Vegan Organic Education, a non-profit organization to teach people to garden using vegan organic methods and to help people reconnect to their food source.

Question:

Can you recommend a good organic gardening book? I'm a complete novice, but I'd like to get started simply?

Answer:

A good all around gardening book is Rodale's Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening. It has an easy to read format and uses lay persons language. The only caveat is that it recommends using animal products for fertilizer, which are not needed in the garden. As vegan organic gardeners we know that a bountiful harvest can be accomplished with cover crops and other sustainable growing techniques.
