Question:

How long will boxed tofu keep in the refrigerator after you've opened it?

Article continues below

Answer:

Fresh tofu sold in the plastic box will keep up to a week or longer if you continue to change the water it is sitting in daily. Always with any food sitting in your fridge before you eat it, look and smell the food to determine whether or not it is still fresh enough to eat. Tofu gone bad will turn slightly in color (a brown hue), the texture will change ever so slightly and you might whiff a sour smell.

Silken tofu which you buy at the store in vacuum packed containers on the shelf, once opened last about three days in the fridge. If you haven't used it by then, don't hesitate to throw it out.
