Question:I was wondering how it's possible to keep track of all the animal ingredients so that by mistake you won't buy or eat anything with animal ingredience in it.Article continues below Answer:There are so many animal by-products that are the result of the meat and dairy industry, they seem to pop up everywhere. You will see them in everything from cosmetics and other beauty products, vitamins, processed foods, baked goods, candies, frozen desserts, clothing and other appareal, bedding and household products, and even film. It's very disconcerting for those of us who choose to live a vegan and compassionate lifestyle. It takes diligent label reading and some inside information to avoid the many animal-derived ingredients that are added to the products that grace the shelves of our stores. Fortunately, there are a few great sites that I know of that have comprehensive lists of animal-derived ingredients, they are:VegFamily's Animal Ingredient List: http://www.vegfamily.com/lists/animal-ingredients.htm Animal Ingredients A to Z: http://animal-ingredients.hypermart.net/index.htm Vegetarian Resource Group's Ingredient FAQ: http://vrg.org/nutshell/faqingredients.htm The Pythagorean Vegan Page http://members.aol.com/docvegan/#ingvegok |
