Book Review
Book Review: Recipes for Raw KidsReview by Cathe OlsonIf you are a transitioning to raw foods and wondering what to feed your kids-you'll be happy to find the e-book Recipes for Raw Kids. The book offers 85 raw recipes in no particular order for kid-friendly foods like Yam I Am Chips (seasoned dehydrated sweet potatoes), Good For You Carrot Fries (sweetened and dehydrated carrot sticks), and Mexican Flax Crackers (seasoned soaked flax seeds dehydrated and cut into chips). Raw Banana Raisin Oatmeal is made by soaking oat groats and grinding them with homemade almond milk, which is topped with bananas and raisins. There are also recipes for salads, soups, smoothies, no cook pizzas, and lots more-even desserts like the Watermelon "Cake" topped with a Cashew Frosting made by blending cashews with agave nectar and vanilla extract. The book also includes information on the special equipment needed to prepare the recipes, such as a high-power blender, dehydrator, and juicer. It even gives links to online vendors for the recommended brands. The recipes are easy to make and the instructions are clear. It would have been nice to have the recipes grouped into categories to make it easier to find a soup or entrée but recipe list at the beginning of the book is helpful when you're trying to find something in particular. Also, keep in mind that this is an e-book so you'll have to print out the recipe or have a computer the kitchen. Check out the Web site www.rawkidsredipes.com for more information. |
