Book ReviewVegan Vittlesby Joanne Stepaniak Review by Erin Pavlina Vegan Vittles is a cookbook containing recipes inspired by the Critters of Farm Sanctuary. The Farm Sanctuary is a 175 acre refuge where injured and abused farm animals are brought and cared for. Gene and Lorri Bauston founded the Farm Sanctuary in 1986 and it is thriving today. Several of the animals that live at the Farm are featured in the book, a really nice touch, and their stories are included.
Article continues below As a cookbook I wouldn't say it's anything special, but it does contain tasty recipes, helpful hints, vegan information, and all the typical information you'll find nowadays in a vegan cookbook. Many of the recipes were a big hit with my meat eating relatives, so that's a big plus right there. I sent my mom home with a tupperware full of Greek Salad that she just adored and couldn't get enough of. One wonderful and unique item this book features are the "instead ofs." Instead of "There's more than one way to skin a cat," the author suggests saying, "There's more than one way to peel a potato." I think this is something we should all get in the habit of. |
