The best book for those interested in insulin/blood sugar control is Defeating Diabetes by Brenda Davis and Tom Barnard. In it, they reveal ground-breaking research on the prevention and reversal of type-2 diabetes (which goes hand-in-hand with obesity). Much of the information from the book is consistent from Brenda's work in the Marshall Islands, where about half of its residents over 35 have type 2 diabetes and where about half the men and three-quarters of the women are overweight or obese. There, Brenda and her team created the Diabetes Wellness Center, whose program focuses on successful diet and exercise intervention to improve and even reverse type 2 diabetes in this population.

For a sneak-peak of many of the main principles in the book, visit this page of Brenda's web site.
