View Full Version : Now That It's Cold/Flu Season...

So, winter's the time when most people find themselves ill. Since becoming vegan, I haven't suffered from a single cold or virus! I've had sinus infections, but I've got chronic sinusitis so that's not too different. I haven't had the stomach virus that went around and I haven't *knock on wood* gotten this nasty cold that's going around.
Many of my lacto-ovo veggie friends have gotten ill. I've told them it's dairy, but they don't believe me. They also try to tell me that I'm going to die at a very young age due to my veganism. Hmmm... however, my very good friend has the worst cold and said, "We're all sick and Mallory's all perky. It's got to be something in the meat."
Anyone have any similar experiences (I'm trying my best to get this forum active!)?

wait until you have children that attend public school...
ha ha
seriously, my 4 year old lifelong vegan son was rarely ever sick. if he did catch a bug he'd shake it off in a day. now that he's in public school the bugs are stronger and meaner somehow. we're sick all the time! we had a lovely stomach virus over Christmas.

I attend public school. I also work with 3-4 year-olds daily. My mother works with elementary school-aged children as well.
ETA: Can't have children, don't want any anyway. :-/

I agree with this completely!

My opinion from all the reading I've done, is that the "bugs" are more resistant to antibiotics because of all the second hand antibiotics people eat in their burgers/chicken/pig/etc. So when one invades your "normal" body, you can't fight it's super powers as easily.
Purely speculation there...

I fail to see how having a child would make me more prone to illness than working with small children in a public school on a regular basis.

Influenza (or as it is commonly known, the flu or the grippe) is a contagious disease, caused by an RNA virus of the orthomyxoviridae family. It rapidly spreads around the world in seasonal epidemics. The name comes from the old medical belief that unfavourable astrological influences cause the disease. Nutrovita offers a wide range of top brands products that can help you to cure Cold & Flu easily & safely.
