Erin, did you go to WorldFest 2003? If I'd still been in L.A. I would have loved to have gone, but I wasn't, so I couldn't. :) Anyway, I'm sure it was a blast, just like last year's. (That was actually the first time I went, not having heard of the event until shortly before it took place last September).

For anyone else wondering what this is, check out http://worldfestevents.com/

I did indeed go. Took lots of pictures with my handy dandy digital camera, only to discover I couldn't get the pictures out of the camera. Doh! I hate that camera.

It was so hot that day so I didn't stay as long as I normally do. But I had a lot of fun and chatted with many people. Had a great fake veggie chicken skewer with a sesame orange sauce. I wish I had gotten more. It was fabulous.

When did you move to Hawaii?

Did you hear Dennis Kucinich speak? Or John Robbins? While I haven't yet read any of his books, I have read enough online to know I would have really enjoyed hearing his talk. And as for Kucinich, I don't know what his real chances are of winning the presidency next year (given politics nowadays) but I definitely wouldn't mind having him in office. Everything I've seen written about him and by him convinces me that he would make an excellent president. (And a vegan president at that. :D )

To respond to your question, my mom and I moved to Hawaii back in mid-August, and I'm attending the university here. (University of Hawai'i at Manoa)

We had a rather nice surprise: Not long after we got here, I discovered the Vegetarian Society of Hawai'i ( http://www.vsh.org ), which is apparently the largest veg. society in the U.S. My mom and I both became members, and have gone to several meetings and VSH-sponsored lectures already. Not only that, but on the 26th, we're going to a vegan "Thanksgiving Eve Dinner" organized by the VSH and the restaurant of the local ISKON temple.

I love VegFamily, but it *is* also rather nice to have a local, offline community as well. :)

Yeah, I wish there was a more local group here too!
