Last night in this forum (General chat) I was having a battle of wits with an unarmed person. I was reading some of the articles elsewhere in this website and occasionally popped back over to the discussion board and there would be another remark or question (too stupid to repeat). I would post a reply. This went back and forth for several posts (by each of us) and finally I finished the article I was reading and posted that I would check back today. When I logged in tonight, that entire thread is missing and that person isn't even listed in the place where you can find people. Did "wishing them away" really work? I didn't think I was that good! (Seriously, could I have accidently deleted something with all that popping in and out?) If I did, (and erased other things) I apologize sincerely.:(

HI Annie,
No, I removed him from the boards. He was violating our policy of not baiting and trolling. He wrote to me directly and asked me why he was banned and I told him.
There are other boards on the internet where discussing/debating the merits of being vegan is fine, but this board is specifically designed to be a safe place for vegans to talk and discuss without having to justify their decisions to anyone.
However, that said, anyone with serious questions about veganism is welcome to post. But his tone was off and I received a lot of complaints about him.

...leave it to a kind and benevolent soul like yourself to worry needlessly about accidently deleting that cowardly and troubled poster. I saw his post and was glad that Erin took care of it. People like that surf the web looking for what they perceive to be weaknesses or vulnerable entities and then insert themselves for the sheer thrill.
In truth, the infiltrator entered into a group of highly educated and focused people. That he actually wrote Erin to find out why he was deleted is extraordinary, considering his offensiveness.
He didn't know what he was dealing with when he tried to mess with our Erin!

Thanks for explaining. I didn't know you could zap people out like that. And boy if anybody deserved a good "zap".....

Well, I am a LITTLE disappointed, as I spent ages yesterday composing a rather annoyed post to him. But I'm glad he's gone, as I said in my post, we get enough of that c**p in real life without getting it here.

Yeah, I was sorry to have to delete all the other posts. when someone on the board post like he did, though, just report the post to me and I'll take care of it. Don't even bother responding. Just give sthem fuel for their fire. :)

O.K, now i'm really curious about what this guy said-I guess I just missed it. I'm always interested in hearing "the other side". It can be quite entertaining watching them attempting to sound like they know what they are talking about :D. Last week I had a particularly witty and well informed response to a pro meat "expert" on my local radio station. He e-mailed me saying that he realized that he needed to upgrade his nutritional education after my comments, of which he could not come up with any reply to prove me wrong! It felt so great to humiliate such a moron with my superior education!!! O.K, now i'm getting snobby......someone stop me :p

Sarahrose, was it a phone-in or were you in the studio, debating? Even if the man was a moron, his e-mail sounds quite encouraging! Maybe when he upgrades his knowledge he might decide that a vegan diet makes perfect sense after all. Here's hoping.

Fiona, It was a phone in followed by several back and forth e-mails. He actually said that soy not only causes cancer, but also heart disease, menopause problems, and early menstruation in children. I simply showed him the research showing otherwise, which I made sure was by non-vegan sources. He also ranted on about the soy industry trying to "demonize" the meat and dairy industry, and made soy companies sound like some corporate superpower who secretly doctors research to be in it's favor. He was clearly a victim of meat and dairy propaganda, and had gotten all of his nutrition education through the Weston A Price foundation ( westonaprice.org - check it out-you will be amused).

Well, the guy that Erin zapped was an idiot. First he tried the subtle approach, something like "do you all think it's fair to force your kids to be vegan?" and then when Annie responded he got more aggressive, saying things like "vegan diets can kill children" blah-de-blah-blah, you get the picture.

Blah-De-Blah Blah pretty much sums it up!
