Never sneek a peek at a present before Christmas, or the surprise of the gift is tarnished come Christmas morning.

We wanted to know the sex both times cuz we are preparation freaks. I wanted to have everything we needed ahead of time (pink or blue...) so we found out.

Personal choice.

we found out with Sarah, but not with Ashley, partly because of some reading we did that revealed that ultrasounds were never proven safe-(read this: http://www.mothering.com/articles/pr...und-risks.html ). So we decided not to have one unless there was a medical indication that we needed one. I have to say there was something special about Alex saying, "It's a girl!" that was missing with Sarah....

i decided to find out because i wanted to know what color stuff to buy. she's not here yet, so i dont know if knowing is really going to ruin the surprise or not. but i guess its good that i found out since i had bought a TON of boy clothes since i was convinced i'm having a boy and so little girl clothes. i'm sure if i didnt find out that after my sonogram i would have been so excited about the baby that i would have bought more boy clothes. i was also planning on naming the boy "jonah" and doing his room in whales and fish (like the Bible story).

I am wondering the same exact thing. I want to do a green baby room if it's a boy, and a purple one if it's a girl, but I don't know if I want to not be surprised. I don't know if it will really matter, though, because if that little person has been inside you for 9 months, you'll love them no matter what.

The main reason that I found out with my girls was that my dh & I could not agree on circumsicion. I was dead set against it & he couldn't be convinced not to circumsize a boy. I was very glad that they turned out to be girls so that we didn't have to argue too much. I didn't see either one of us budging & one of us was going to be pretty unhappy.

xmysticprincessx, You could still name your baby Jonah. I knew a girl named Jonah once and she was a singular, intelligent ball of fire. And the room of whales and fish doesn't have to be a boy thing. Just a thought. It's one of my favorite names, so I always encourage people to use it.
