Had my baby girl

Well I had my little girl a bit too soon she came into the world on 10-11 and I was only 25 1/2 weeks along. But amazingly she's doing very well for such a preemie. She was 1 lb 11 oz 13 inches. I still can't believe she's here but she is. heck didn't even get to get over the fact I was pregnant.
here's her site if you'd like to see her and read her birthstory

Bless her heart, what a trooper. I hope you continue to receive only good news. My warmest thoughts are with you.

Our son spent 10 days in the NICU after birth, and it's a tough thing to watch your baby in that condition, so my heart goes out to you.

Take care and please keep us posted! Congratulations on the birth!

Laura,

I know how scary that must have been. My nephew was born at 23 1/2 weeks (he was just a little smaller than your little one). But it is amazing what medicine can do these days! After a good number of surgeries, he's doing fine at 3 1/2 years old now. His verbal and cognitive and speech skills are right on track, though he's a bit behind in his fine motor skills and gross motor skills. But, there's a lot of support out there for preemies these days. I know it's scary, but I hope you can take hope from Simon's success story!

If you're interested in comparing stories with my sister, I can forward your email address to her.

Colleen

Our niece's twins were born almost 3 months premature last year. Her little girl was 1 lb. 13ozs. We don't see them often b/c they live in another state, but were at their one year bd party this summer. I know that it was scary for them for a while. I hope that your little girl comes through well. Our thoughts will be with you.

Wow! I have great respect for you going through that - and what a wonderful little girl! I couldn't believe the size of her in the picture where she is holding your finger. I read the journal and I'm so glad she is getting able to be fine without the medical interventions.

Congratulations! Keep us posted on how she is doing~!

Hugs
Emily

Congrats on the new baby girl!
Looks like she's doing well so far. I heard the most critical time for babies in the nicu is the 1st 72 hours after birth.
A couple months ago, I was reading an article on netscape.com about this girl who was the smallest living preemie. She's in high school now and in national honor society, in the school band, plays sports, etc. i think they said she weighed about a pound at birth. it was a really nice and encouraging article. they also talked about all the advances in medicine in the past few years that were able to help keep her alive and thrive.
good luck! and don't forget to update your signature!

I just wanted to post an update for Laura since I'm sure she's busy with her family.

I was looking at her online journal for Megan (her new daughter's name.) Megan is doing really well - off the respirator, and is up to 2 lbs 4 oz as of yesterday, and her parents get to hold her and help feed her.

Way to go Megan!

Hope you're feeling well, Laura, and have a great Thanksgiving!

She's up to 3 lbs 12 ozs and is doing pretty good. I got to bf her for the first time last week and she knew what to do to! which is awesome. Hoping to bring her home in a few weeks.

HI Laura,

hehehe - sorry I thought your name was Kaitlin! But Bineh thought your new daughter's name was Kaitlin! I guess we're all a little mixed up. Ok, so only the two of us are mixed up, but you know our hearts are in the right place!

I'm glad to hear that she had her suckling all ready to go!

Keep us updated!

Emily

Laura,

I just checked out the update pics. She is so cute and she looks like she has found a little thumb to suck. She is so tiny. Is there a weight she has to reach before leaving the hospital? I think it's awesome that you have breastfed her. Babies are so amazing. I can't believe how tiny she is.

Keep us updated!
