going out into the world

my adorable little man who's just turned 6 is starting to head out into the unforgiving meat-eating world on his own - and he's doing fabulously!! he went to his first play-date alone and although the mother knows he's a vegan (and what one is as she used to be one in college) he still insisted on having the ingredients list read to him on the box of cookies she was trying to offer him. heehee! and the complete madness of bithday party invitation after birthday party invitation has begun. of course, it's my opinion that because he's such a vegan-influenced sweet and gentle little man that he's been getting all these invites - lol!! and he hasn't come home once feeling left out from eating the non-vegan birthday cake and ice cream (of course i always pack a mini vegan cake for him). i really, really fretted over how he was going to handle being different than the others and so far he's not having an issue with it at all. yay!
