Unhappy Chemotherapy.

I live in England and in April this year lost my 51 year old "baby" sister to cancer, which started in her intestines then spread to her liver. My brother-in-law told me that the hospital where she was treated required her to sign an agreement to (among other things) eat meat before she was allowed a course of chemo. Is this really a neccessity? Can anyone explain or otherwise comment?

I am so sorry for your loss.

I don't know why the doctors would require a patient to eat meat before starting chemo. I have a friend in Canada whose baby underwent chemotherapy for a brain tumor. The baby was a vegan at the time and the doctors didn't request that she consume any meat or dairy prior to the procedure.

This seems especially troubling to me as red meat is known to actually cause some cancers.
