Hi Greenie!

My suggestion is really only relevant if the daycare group grew to >3 kids since it sounded like having 4 or more kids gets more red-tapey...!!

Basically, with the larger # of kids, I was thinking that the parents could agree to a veggie daycare that is run collectively by all involved parents.

With this larger group of kids and parents, maybe some of the daycare responsibilities could be shared (scheduling activities, preparing lunches/snacks, etc...?) and maybe parents could take turns "hosting" the daycare kids and/or perhaps there would be more than one daycare person to help watch over the kids, etc.!

To be honest, I'm so new to thinking about all of this stuff, I have no real inkling as to how viable the idea is, or what would be involved in forming a coop-style daycare...! It may well involve the same bureaucracy as a regular daycare!

Anyway, I hope that clarified things a little...!

That sounds like a cool idea, I just don't know how convenient it would be here in San Antonio. We don't have a single veggie restaurant here, and people think that me being preg and veg is some form of fetal abuse. I was told by an ex-co worker that my hair would fall out if I didn't eat meat.

Finding 3 kids to babysit that are veg will be a big enough battle. If by some stroke of (miraculous) luck there is a large ammount of people interested, I'd love to implement this idea. Maybe team up with another mom wanting to day care and we could alternate homes and responsiblities. If there are any in San Antonio that would want to, let me know, but until then, more than 3 sounds like a real handful.

Thanks again for reading and posting. It;s giving me confidence. Truly, never thought to do this until now!

Greenie, I don't know if this will give you hope, but I recently heard of a mom looking for AP, vegan daycare for her two children. I'm not in your part of the country, but I was convinced we were the only vegans in town!
