Product ReviewsDixie Diners' Club Devils Food Cakewww.dixiediner.com Review by Rebecca Hess February 2003 When I received a bag of Dixie Diners' vegan devils food cake mix I was ecstatic and couldn't wait to try it. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed when I made the cake for a friend's birthday and it came out extremely dry and crumbly. The directions tell you to only add a small amount of water, which I did. The water I added wasn't even close to enough to coat the dry ingredients and certainly not enough to mix it into a cake batter. The bag said that the batter would be thick, but this was ridiculous. I wound up adding more water simply so I could stir the ingredients together. Article continues below I proceeded to bake the cake in two 9 inch round pans as directed for the allotted time on the directions. After removing the cake I hoped for the best, but was let down. The cake had a good taste but a horrible texture. Perhaps you'll have better luck with it than I did. |
