Vegan or vegetarian birth stories are welcome.Jessica's Birth StoryWent in to be induced on Thursday Morning at 7:30 a.m. (due to slightly high bp) - after having contractions all night long about 5 minutes apart - arrived and got checked in and found that I was already 4 centimeters - so if I wasn't going to be induced she probably would have come that day anyway!Article continues below Got hooked up to the pitocin and had regular contractions 2 minutes apart from 8:30 to 12:30 - however no more dilation - and they weren't painful - so they broke my water at 1:00 - things REALLY picked up and by 1:30 I was ready for the epidural - got the epidural and then things got funny.....all of a sudden all of the doctors on the labor floor and all of the nurses rushed in - there were 5 doctors and 8 nurses in our room all looking at the monitor - DH and I kept asking if the baby was alright and they kept telling us she was fine but they also kept asking me if I was feeling o.k. - I became really sleepy and a couple of times I almost fell asleep - and they kept talking to me - turns out my blood pressure dropped very low (a sometime side effect from the epidural) and when my blood pressure dropped the baby's heart rate dropped - so they shut EVERYTHING OFF - pitocin and epidural - from 1:30 - 3:00 - I felt alot of pain and they had to give me some medicine to stablize my blood pressure - finally at 3:00 they put everything back on - I was at 7 cent - about 80% effaced then. Suddenly at 3:30 I told them I needed to push (I could still feel pressure but no pain at all ) - they got the doctor in and 4 pushes later out came Baby Jessie. All in all a bearable 7 hr labor - the longest I've had! So Jessica Marguerite Wilson was born at 3:46 p.m on Thursday March 30, 2000.; weighing in at 7 lbs 12 ounces (so much for the 9-1/2 pound baby I was carrying!), length 19-1/2 inches. She's got dark hair like DH and sister but a nice round little face like her brother and Mommy. She's pink and absolutely perfect - was completely alert and was in DH's arms first while they monitored my bp. The siblings are pleased, but we are having a little adjustment troubles here and there - I'm sure everything will work out fine. Mommy had just a little tear - but then ripped open her stiches due to a coughing fit last night - other than having the "weepies" I'm just fine. We got home yesterday and had only 3-1/2 hours sleep last night - she was a bit fussy. We are bottle feeding and she is taking about 2 ounces every 3 hours and leaving us plenty of surprises in her diaper! |
