Why Did You Go Vegan?AnaHello, I'm vegan since New Year! The truth is I've never enjoyed meat and I love to see other animals ALIVE! I was always feeling sick at the end of each meal! The problem was that I didn't find an alternative I really loved (and had to eat what other people cooked)! NOW I HAVE FOUND IT, and I'm grateful and proud of it :) I became vegan almost overnight, because I felt that I had found Peace and Harmony! Article continues belowWhen I was fifteenth I said to my mum I didn't want to eat meat anymore but is was to complicated (people weren't much supportive)! I end up eating white meat as well (so I didn't have to explain anything to anyone! people can be pretty annoying when we're a teenager!). A few years ago I bought my own house and became totally responsible for my meals. I tried macrobiotics for a while but it didn't feel really right. For the last decade I've been trying alternatives, always based on cereals and vegetables (but I was still eating white meat and fish on other people houses). I'm also a chocolate addicted and, periodically, I've found the strength to stop eating it (now I'm ashamed but during University I used to substitute a meal for a chocolate or an ice cream!). Last year I did it before Christmas (in October) and haven't touch a bit of chocolate ever since (I survived Christmas!). I was never overweight but, since I was more aware of my real appetite, I found more pleasure in vegetables and gradually I changed my meals to a vegetarian diet, because it felt the right thing to do! All together I feel like I've been doing a desintoxication for the last few months :) and I'm more and more comfortable with my body! In January 2003 I became vegan overnight! Where I live it's not a very easy option! I haven't personally found - yet - one single vegan to talk to (to change experiences) and feel like an animal in a zoo every time I've to eat out (it happens pretty often! usually I just smile to people, each time my diet becomes the meal's topic). I live with my boyfriend, not everything is vegan at home. He enjoys our vegan meals at home (he still eats dairy and eggs) but doesn't say no to his mum's home made steaks. For the first time in almost thirty-three years I have real pleasure on my home cooked meals :) I really enjoy cooking :) And since I'm more and more aware of what I eat I control easily my appetite (usually I have an aristocratic breakfast, a noble lunch and a feeble dinner). One week per month I eat only fruit, because I find that it makes me feel more peaceful and agile. VeganiAna greetings to you all :) Read more stories If you found the information in this article helpful, please leave a donation for VegFamily or share it with others. |
