Why Did You Go Vegan?JackThere's another guy on this list, Henry. That guy's my roommate. I don't have an e-mail, I don't use the computer a lot. It's his, and I sorta share it.Article continues below He was going vegan then, and I thought he was crazy at first. But later he kind of started to make sense, so I decided I'd start too. I hang out at a local bar, and I miss the buffalo wings. I cope though, at least beer's vegan, right? Visited my folks last Thanksgiving, and I thought I'd be stuck eating vegetables. I told 'em I was vegetarian earlier, and when we had dinner I found that my mom'd made some thanksgiving tofu stuff. It was a lot like turkey, I was amazed she'd gone to the trouble. My folks have a computer, said she'd foudn the recipes on-line. she'd made cheese for me too. Vegan stuff. About the bar. This guy named Gus started something, he found out I was vegetarian. Things got hot, and he took a swing at me with a pool cue. I had to take him down. I think being vegetarian made a big difference. I gave him a bruise, but I'm pretty sure if I'd been eating meat he would've landed me in the hospital. There are a lot of vegetarian and vegan recipe sites that've helped me stay on track. If you all need something, cheese, meat, whatever, there are recipes for substitutes. Just take a look. At first I felt like sort of a hippie, but there's nothing like sinking your teeth into a thick, juicy hamburger, even if it's not made of meat.
