Why Did You Go Vegan?

Joyce

I've been a vegetarian by choice since I was eight years old. I won't reveal my exact age but let's just say that was a good while ago! My mother was a nurse and she had the idea that I might catch a disease from other children and she kept me as isolated as possible and in lieu of other children as playmates, I played with the animals on my grandmother's farm where we lived. They became special friends and I loved each and every one of them. Soon I realized that some of them were being served for dinner quite often and this upset me no end. I then subbornly refused to eat any type of meat in spite of cajoling, threats, and/or punishment and to this day I do not eat it. After all, I certainly couldn't eat my friends!

I am healthy, young for my age, and have normal blood pressure. A lot of people think it is unhealthy not to have meat as a regular part of their diet but this is just not so and I am living proof of it.
