Why Did You Go Vegan?

My name is Olga and I am a vegan. For many years I ate and drank my fill. The odd thing was that I considered myself a very ethical person because I was going into the ministry.

After grad school I had trouble landing a decent job. In fact I never have had any luck working for other people. Maybe that's my independent attitude. Well, after eating and drinking my way through several relationships, I met someone who taught me about the inhumanity of eating animals. Then I was confronted with the excuse I had always used from the Bible which says man has dominion over all living creatures on the earth. If we have dominion, we're like the parents. Are responsible parents abusive and murderous towards their children? No. So I still believe in the Bible, but I interpret more responsibly now. Things aren't perfect in my life. I still don't have a steady income, but I don't contribute to the mass torture and slaughter of innocent animals. Now I work to get other people to see that their animal-using ways aren't to their benefit. I guess I'm in the ministry after all.
