Why Did You Go Vegan?

For many years I often felt terrible about eating animals. I was told that we need to eat animals to survive, and that God gave us animals to eat. One day about four years ago, while I was reading an issue of the ASPCA magazine that was sent to my house, I saw an article about how poorly farm animals are treated to make us food.

The article referred to a book by Erik Marcus entitled "Vegan: The New Ethics of Eating." As soon as I finished reading the article, I went out to Barnes and Noble in Willow Grove, PA and purchased a copy of the book. After completing half of the book I decided that I was going to become vegan immediately. That night I skipped right from being a meat eater to a vegan. I lived on bean and rice burritos for a few weeks.
