Why Did You Go Vegan?WendyFirstly I must say that I am so happy to have found vegfamily and am enjoying reading everyones stories. You are all very lucky in America (I am in Australia) that you have a lot more variety of vegan products available.Article continues below Over the years if anyone asked I would say, in my ignorance, that I would never become vegan. Then one day my sister said she was going vegan and as we were living together I said I would too. I was 19 at this time. It was now that I began to read more and realised the true horror of what we humans do to our fellow creatures. I have never looked back. Now I have a partner, who I have been with for 13 years and who was a meat eater when we met, but now is a vegetarian (he cant bring himself to give up cheese). And we have 3 beautiful vegan children. Unfortunately my sister who helped me on my vegan path, now is a full blown Christian meateater, who thinks God put all creatures on earth for mankind to do what they will. But we have a mutual understanding...I wont preach to her about eating meat and she wont preach to me about Christianity. We both know the other wont change. And over the years I have come to realise this with a lot of people. Some people just dont want to know and dont want to change. That's depressing. But reading all your wonderful stories I realise I'm not alone. I just havent met any of you lovely vegan people yet (even after being a vegan for 14 years). I am looking forward to reading more of your stories. Love, peace and rainbows to all !!!!!! Read more stories If you found the information in this article helpful, please share it with others. |
