Dairy Free – What Are Good Vegan Sources of Calcium?

calciumforvegansQ I have been a vegetarian for the last 17 years. Now I want to give up dairy products too. Could you please tell me what should I eat to give my body calcium?

 

A The following foods are excellent sources for calcium:

  • tofu
  • soymilk
  • sesame seeds, (sesame nut butter a.k.a. tahini) along with other nuts
  • green leafy vegetables such as kale, collards etc.
  • molasses
  • sea vegetables
  • avocado
  • butternut squash
  • artichokes
  • brussel sprouts
  • asparagus
  • green beans
  • mulberries
  • gooseberries
