Stir-Fried Brussel Sprouts
Add a slice of bread...maybe a glass of red wine...Mmmmmm!!! Trust me, a very far cry from unappetizing boiled cabbage, and even healthier.
Ingredients
- Fresh brussels sprouts (eyeball what fits into your frying pan, sprouts do not loose too much mass When cooking)
- Garlic, 1/2 to 1 head
- Salt, pepper
Instructions
- Wash the brussel sprouts, remove the hard "stem" ends, then cut into quarters. Let sit for about 15 minutes to reap the whole benefits of the sulfur compounds.
- Meanwhile, peel the garlic cloves and chop them coarsely.
- Drizzle a few tablespoons of olive oil (not virgin! the cooking stuff) over the sprouts. Fry them over medium heat, stirring often. After 8-10' they should look about done - do not overcook them, let them maintain some crunch. Add chopped garlic, salt and pepper and stir about 1', not more. Garlic would thus retain its flavor.
Notes
Delicious even when reheated for 2', but do not use the microwave or you'll kill the "good stuff".
